Even Armenian National Congress itself does not believe snap elections will take place in Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, spokesperson for the Republican Party of Armenia, said at today’s press conference. “So how can others believe?” he wonders. Sharmazanov stressed that Alexander Arzumanyan, the head of ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s campaign office, repeatedly stated he does not believe in likelihood of snap elections.

“If we believed in the opposition, six presidential and eleven parliamentary elections would have been held,” he noted.

The RPA spokesperson also said that President Sargsyan attaches major importance to opposition’s presence in the country. “I am not inclined to think that authorities are good and the opposition is bad. Having different viewpoints does not indicate the sides are enemies. Their service will valuable for the country. However, the opposition and coalition should struggle in civilized way,” he added.
