Participants in a seminar on e-trade development in Aghveran (Armenia) expressed their dissatisfaction with the Armenian banking system for not assisting e-trade.

Hovhannes Avoyan, Chairman of the Union of Information Technologies Enterprises (UITE), told NEWS.am that Armenian banks are rather conservative and are not interested in new businesses. “This market poses risks to banks, while they do not see the market potential,” Avoyan said.

Denadi Landau, UNIBANK Director, told NEWS.am that rendering e-mail services entails serious expenses – with special, human and financial resources involved. To render e-trade services a bank has to experience “evolution” to be capable of offering necessary products to the market. It remains unnecessary risk to banks, as e-trade turnover is rather low.

Khachatur Gakhramanyan, Deputy Head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department, Ardshininvestbank, pointed out that banks are interested in e-trade as it is a means of earning money. However, all the strong and weak points must be taken into account.
