Security at Yerevan Zvartnots international airport is ensured in accordance with ICAO and IATA criteria and Armenian legislation. “We also take relevant steps to ensure security measures. If decision to tighten security is made we will meet the requirements,” spokesperson for Zvartnots airport Gevorg Abrahamyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Domodedovo blast once again showed security should be tightened in airports.

Today Russian President Dmitry Medvedev accused governmental officials of not providing sufficient security at the airport, adding that it was in a “state of anarchy”.

In his turn Governor of Krasnodar region, south Russia, gave instructions to tighten security in the region, stressing it is an attractive target for terrorists.

Chinese officials also declared Beijing airport will impose enhanced security measures, Xinhua news agency reported.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, blast rocked international section of Moscow’s Domodedovo airport. The death toll reached 35 people. The number of injured is still rising, t the moment 180 injured are reported. The explosive device contained the equivalent of 2 to 5 kg of TNT. Four Armenians were injured in a blast, one of them remains in critical condition. According to preliminary information, citizens of UK, Italy and France were killed.

Citizenship of people with Armenian names is being clarified. The list includes: Galustian Karen, Guryan Khachaturov), Yuri Vartanov (born in 1953) and Pogozbekov A.A.
