Armenia-Austria relations have a great potential, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated at the meeting with his Austrian counterpart Michael Spindelegger in Vienna on March 1.

Spindelegger stressed that Armenian Foreign Minister’s visit is a good opportunity to continue the dialogue, which started during his last year’s visit to Yerevan, the press service of Armenian Foreign Office informed Armenian News NEWS.am. According to him, a new chapter has opened in Armenia-Austria relations and Austria is ready for further cooperation with Armenia.

The Ministers agreed to take steps to improve contractual underpinnings. The officials also discussed directions of Armenia-EU cooperation and steps to be taken to develop bilateral cooperation within European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership project.

Edward Nalbandian presented the recent developments and expectations in the Karabakh conflict. Michael Spindelegger reiterated Austria’s support to the talks within OSCE Minsk Group and a mere peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The ministers also touched upon prospects for collaboration in cultural and scientific fields. The sides welcomed the idea of creating an Austrian library at Yerevan State Linguistic University. They exchanged views on the cooperation between Armenian Diplomatic School and Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, as well as implementation of programs in humanitarian spheres.
