Azerbaijan not only practices blackmail but kills Armenian soldiers to make blackmail convincing, the Armenian political expert told the journalists on Monday.

Manvel Sargsyan, expert for Armenian Center of National and International Studies, considers Armenia has no right to lose a single soldier for a negotiations stage. “Armenia should make changes in talks so as Azerbaijan would be afraid of making a single shot,” he said.   

All the statements voiced by the Armenian side to restrain Azerbaijan should turn into a policy. “If an Armenian soldier is killed while date for talks is proposed, certain moves should be made. For instance, Armenia can recognize Karabakh’s independence or at least boycott the talks. It will persuade Azerbaijan to give up its wrongdoings,” Sargsyan added. The expert stressed talks can continue for years but we cannot suffer losses for each stage of negotiations.

Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian presidents met in Sochi last Saturday to discuss the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. The presidents adopted a joint declaration and agreed to investigate incidents in the line of contact “with the participation of the parties under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and with the assistance of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.”
