Statement adopted by Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian leaders in Sochi is not worth a bean if there is no confidence between the sides and Armenian soldier is killed in the line of contact 24 hours prior to the meeting, says the expert.
Karen Bekaryan, head of the European Integration analytic center, considers the adopted statement solves no problem if it is not signed by Nagorno-Karabakh. “It is very difficult to implement an agreement which is not signed by Nagorno-Karabakh,” he added.
“The first point, that is exchange of POWs, refers to Azerbaijan only. There are no Azerbaijani prisoners of war in Armenia. As to the second point referring to resolution of all problems through peaceful means, it is a regress for the Armenian side,” he stressed.
