Azerbaijan’s behavior does not inspire confidence that Baku is ready to resolve the Karabakh conflict, NKR President Bako Sahakyan said at today’s press conference following the meeting with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andronius Azubalis.

Commenting on Azubalis’ proposal to remove unilaterally snipers from the line of contact (voiced at a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister - Ed.) Bako Sahakyan noted that such a proposal is appropriate in case the sides display constructive approach and respect the offers. However, Azerbaijan repeatedly violated agreements reached earlier and in this context we can not agree with this initiative, he added.

Bako Sahakyan noted necessity of making steps aimed at easing tension on the contact line, stressing Azerbaijan is not interested in it. According to NKR President, Azerbaijan’s discontent to remove snipers should be regarded as desire to maintain tension on the frontline.

Speaking of yesterday’s violation of ceasefire and killing of an Armenian soldier, Bako Sahakyan said that every visit of the OSCE representative to the region is accompanied by Azerbaijan’s acts of sabotage. He recalled yesterday’s incident which occurred shortly after exchange of an Armenian civilian, who was in Azerbaijani captivity, and Azerbaijani POW.
