Criminal prosecution against Director of the National Archives of Armenia Amatuni Virabyan has been terminated, and the criminal case instituted against him has been dismissed due to absence of corpus delicti. This is what Head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia Arevik Khachatryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Suren Papikyan had reported that, based on the studies conducted and materials obtained under the instruction of May 23, 2018, it was established that there were prima facie elements of crime prescribed by the Criminal Code of Armenia in the actions of the director of the National Archives of Armenia, after which Papikyan had addressed Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan with the request to process the report on the crime in the prescribed manner.

Amatuni Virabyan was charged under part 1 of Article 309 (Use by an official of his or her official position contrary to the interests of service or failure by the official to perform official duties). A signature to not leave had been selected as a preventive measure.
