Nowadays digital images of Hermitage Museum’s exhibits are available for $3 on the Internet, director of the Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to him, digital images are mostly used in iPhones. Falsifiers started earning money at the expense of museum, he said.
“Falsifiers started earning money through Google, advertising their offers, while owner of the exhibits is the Hermitage Museum,” Piotrovsky stated.
He stressed that digital images of high quality are available at the Hermitage website where anyone can watch them for free.
Not only are the Hermitage museum but other well-known Russian museums which allowed Google to take photos, have already suffered because of falsifiers.
Director of the Hermitage Museum said that Google had violated the reached arrangements.
