YEREVAN. - New war over Nagorno-Karabakh will destroy the entire system of interrelations in South Caucasus, said political analyst for Baku based Zerkalo newspaper Rauf Mirgadirov to “Caucasus-2010” Yerevan conference on May 17th.

According to him the countries of the region gradually toppled the fear of 2008 Russian-Georgian war. Mirgadirov thinks that Nagorno-Karabakh case is not one to be quickly localized, considering that ‘the troops are 20-30 kilometers far from the pipe” [referring to Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyran pipeline], which determines the U.S. policy in the region. Mirgadirov added that new war will ruin the entire system of interrelations, given that Turkey could not possibly keep out. In this case Nagorno-Karabakh status is not likely to change said Mirgadirov, adding that both its recognition and maintenance of status quo is disadvantageous for all parties.

Mirgadirov believes that there is certain pressure exerted on the two sides to reach an agreement on deployment of peacekeepers in the conflict zone.
