YEREVAN. – Overall 274 convicts were released under the amnesty declared on May 27 on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
The amnesty proposed by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan was approved by the Armenian parliament on May 26, it provides for release of 496 convicts.
Opposition activists Nikol Pashinyan and Sasun Mikaelyan convicted in connection with March 1 events were released last Friday.
