Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II received Catholicos of All Armenian Karekin II in Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi today.

The Armenian and Georgian spiritual leaders greeted each other and uttered a prayer in the church.

The meeting was scheduled for 2:00 p.m, however it started an hour earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from Tbilisi.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II will be on a visit to Georgia on June 10-15. Relations between Armenian and Georgian churches will be discussed during the visit.

His Holiness Karekin II will visit Javakheti, Armenian-populated region of Georgia and meet with the local Armenian community.

It is noteworthy that no Armenian Catholicos has visited Georgia since 1894.
