YEREVAN. - Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II met with parents of Javakhk Armenian activist Vahagn Chakhalyan on Wednesday, Yerkir Union told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

His Holiness Karekin II told Chakhalyan’s parents that he had raised the issue of releasing the activist during the meeting with Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.

Georgian authorities sentenced Vahagn Chakhalyan to 10-year imprisonment. A petition signed by 1,200 Armenians of Javakhk was sent to Catholicos Karekin II asking to raise the issue with Georgian spiritual and political leadership.
