YEREVAN. – A resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is impossible in the near future, even if some basic principles are signed, MP from ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Manvel Badeyan told a press conference in Yerevan on Thursday.

The MP emphasized the final settlement of the Karabakh conflict is possible only when Armenia and Azerbaijan establish good neighborly relations. “However, the experience with Turkey indicates it will take a long time,” the MP noted. Meanwhile, the official stressed the international community in the name of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs force the Karabakh peace process and even set a deadline for the conflicting parties following the Kazan meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents.

However, Badeyan noted Baku is not so interested in changing the status quo, otherwise Azerbaijan would not present about 10 proposals to the co-chairs’ document in Kazan in an attempt to buy time. “The document adopted in Kazan led Baku to a standstill. For this reason, Azerbaijan is trying to buy time, trying to achieve positive changes for itself,” he underlined.

Referring to Azerbaijan’s warlike statements, Badeyan emphasized the resumption of military hostilities in the Karabkah conflict zone is unlikely, as it conflicts with Baku’s interests. “Azerbaijan realizes it will lose the war, as today the world community is interested in a mere peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. “If a war resumes in Nagorno-Karabakh, all Armenian people will rise to fight regardless of social status.”

With respect to Stepanakert’s possible involvement in the negotiation process, the MP noted Karabakh will join the negotiations when is does not agree with the decisions by the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides.
