SAINT PETERSBURG. - Turkish Consul General Mahmet Chinar tried to humiliate his Israeli counterpart Edward Shapira in Russian St Petersburg city. Chinar invited Shapira to tell him about the cancellation of the exhibition at the Choral synagogue, which was a united cultural event. Turkish Consul General deliberately invited his counterpart to sit on a low armchair, Izrus reports quoting Vesti newspaper.

The difference between the armchair and the chair was 20 cm. It is considered to be a humiliation in Muslim world.

This is not the first case when both Turkish and Israeli representatives try to humiliate each other. Israeli FM Danny Ayalon invited the Turkish Ambassador deliberately to sit on a low chair in front of TV cameras in 2010. Turkish Consul decided to do the same with Shapira.
