YEREVAN. – The measure of restraint for oppositional activist of Armenian National Congress (ANC) Tigran Arakelyan may be changed soon, ANC coordinator Levon Zurabyan told the journalists on Tuesday.

Arakelyan and 6 other opposition activists were arrested on August 9 for hooliganism and arranging fights in the city center, police claims. However, ANC believes the arrest has no basis.

“We are sure that the measure of restraint for Arakelyan will be solved in a short period of time,” stated Zurabyan.

According to the ruling Republican Party MP David Harutyunyan, the issue may require general approach as legal system operated non-selectively. Thus open-minded approach will be preserved.
