YEREVAN. - Armenia will host Second International Youth Sambo tournament on Soviet Union hero Nelson Stepanyan. The tournament starts on Saturday in Yerevan dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence and CIS establishment.

The tournament is held under the patronage of Armenian National Olympic Committee and Armenian Sambo Federation.

Besides Armenian athletes, representatives of foreign states will also participate in the tournament. Russia will be represented by several regions including Moscow and St Petersburg. Ukrainian and Belarusian athletes will participate in the tournament for the first time. The tournament opening is scheduled for October 1, press service of Russian side informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Russian Ambassador to Armenia Vyacheslav Kovaleko, chairman of Sambo Federation of Armenia Zori Balayan, and the advisor of the President on sport Yurik Vardanyan will take part in the opening ceremony.
