A large inflow of foreign direct investments into Armenia was observed last year. Finance minister Vahe Hovhannisyan said this during Monday’s National Assembly debates on the 2022 state budget performance report.

According to the minister, these investments made up 5.1 percent of the country’s GDP.

"This is a very high indicator, especially in recent years," Hovhannisyan added.

The indicator of capital accumulation was also quite high, as the representative of the Armenian government noted. In other words, Armenian businesses have invested their incomes in the development of their own capital capabilities.

The finance minister expressed a conviction that the positive impact of these investments can be observed in the coming years.

To note, this indicator is related to the inflow of immigrants and capital from Russia to Armenia after the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
