A report was received from the Vardenis Department of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia that at around 6:20am Tuesday, contract soldier K.K., who was in charge of a combat position of a guard station of a military unit, had sustained a fatal gunshot wound in the aforesaid combat position—and from a burst of fire from a rifle.

According to preliminary data, this gunshot wound was inflicted by a fellow conscript soldier on combat duty, the Investigative Committee of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into this incident.

The aforementioned conscript soldier has been detained on suspicion of committing the aforesaid criminal act.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
