Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin, at a press briefing held at the Central Election Commission of Russia, spoke—via video link—about a large number of Russians who came to Armenia from Georgia to vote in the presidential elections of Russia, reports TASS.

"The peculiarity is also that quite a lot of people from Georgia came to vote here [in Yerevan] and in Gyumri this year. By the way, according to the data of our main consulate, more than 1,300 people voted in Gyumri," said Kopyrkin.

According to the Russian diplomat, the Armenian authorities ensured the security of the country's polling stations during the Russian presidential elections, and there were no incidents.

"Fortunately, there were no excesses or incidents. I want to express my gratitude to the authorities of Armenia, who collaborated with us and took appropriate measures to ensure security," said Kopyrkin.

"The situation here is working. Five polling stations have been set up in Armenia,” the ambassador said. “Voter turnout, I believe, is unprecedented. Already at this moment, according to our preliminary calculations, more than 5,000 people have voted in the embassy alone. And I must say that we are still working, as there are many people who are in the area—near the embassy, and we give them the maximum opportunity to vote. There are many young people," added the Russian ambassador to Armenia.
