Armenia will provide $300,000 in aid to Japan to meet the humanitarian needs of the survivors of the January 1 earthquake on the Noto Peninsula of Japan. The respective decision was adopted at Thursday's Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.

The draft decision was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

The funding of this assistance will be earmarked from the reserve fund of the Armenia government.

As noted in the explanation of this decision, Japan is one of the biggest donor countries of Armenia. Ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992, the amount of grants provided by Japan for the development of Armenia has totaled more than $84 million.
