YEREVAN. - Session of the Armenian-Georgian Intergovernmental Economic Commission was convened in Batumi, Georgia. The event was chaired by Armenian and Georgian PMs, Tigran Sargsyan and Nika Gilauri. During the session, the parties discussed the avenues for deepening and strengthening cooperation, Government Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.    

“We are interested in deepening and developing our relations and are convinced that this is in the interests of our two peoples,” Tigran Sargsyan stated. He also noted that the projects that are being carried out in cooperation with EU contribute to inputting a united economic policy between Armenia and Georgia. “Our relations are becoming more diverse, every year.”

And on behalf of Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan, PM Sargsyan conveyed warm greetings to the Georgian colleagues and President Mikheil Saakashvili.   

In his turn, Georgian PM Nika Gilauri stressed that very good economic relations are established between Armenia and Georgia. “It is delightful that these relations deepen and develop every year. It is pleasing that the level of trade turnover between our two countries has risen by 45 percent, in comparison with the year past,” Georgia’s PM stated. He also noted that there are numerous Armenian-Georgian joint projects. “We must definitely continue the talks. Reforms are currently underway in Georgia and Armenia, in different domains, and these reforms will be the primary tools for implementing joint projects,” Nika Gilauri said.   

During the session, the parties also signed the protocol of the Armenian-Georgian Intergovernmental Economic Commission.
