YEREVAN. - Obligatory agricultural insurance does not promise significant benefits for the farmers, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan said on Tuesday.

According to him, Armenian Ministry of Agriculture and Central Bank of Armenia ran long discussions on the issue.

According to Armenian National Statistical Service, gross volume of agricultural production made AMD 617 billion ($1,623 million). Income per farm makes $4,700 annually.

According to him, there are other measures to stimulate agriculture, including subsidization of interest rates on agricultural credits and distribution of cereal seeds.
