YEREVAN. – Lamb meat is in short supply at the stores and supermarkets, in Armenian capital Yerevan, and it is not even sold at several supermarket chains. And in some places, it can be purchased only by placing an order in advance, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes. 

In one supermarket, for example, where 1kg lamb meat costs 4,500 drams (US$ 11.73), an order must be placed beforehand. To note, on December 9, 2010, 1kg lamb meat was sold for 2,990 drams ($7.79) at a supermarket chain. Also, 76 thousand sheep were exported from Armenia in the first nine months of this year.
