YEREVAN. – Yerevan city Mayor Taron Margaryan lit the lights of Armenia’s main Christmas tree in the Republic Square on Tuesday evening. Several thousand Yerevan citizens were present.

For the first time the tree lights were lit in a festive atmosphere in the Armenia’s main square. The festive minute was preceded by a ten minute colorful laser show. The children who came with their parents neglecting the cold watched with bated breath how on the facade of Armenia’s National Art Gallery snowmen, fir trees and other figures appeared. The countdown was done together. And so at 08.10 p.m. the wonder happened. The tree was lit and the sky above Yerevan was decorated by firework. At the same time festive illuminations were switched on Yerevan’s central streets.

The Holidays have started officially.
