YEREVAN. – A 55-57-member group of Armenia’s citizens—who had headed to Armenia from the Russian-Georgian border checkpoint, and, not being able to continue further ever since January 19, had stopped at Georgia’s Stepantsminda city—can cross the Georgian-Armenian border on Monday evening, MFA Press Secretary Tigran Balayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Referring to the Georgian side, Balayan also informed that the road at this section is being cleared, since Sunday, and that Armenia’s citizens may continue their travel on the latter half of Monday.

To note, after having crossed the Russian-Georgian border, with four minibuses and automobiles, these citizens of Armenia had reached Stepantsminda, but they were unable to continue, since, because of the weather forecast, the Georgian authorities had closed that section of the road.

Armenia’s authorities have cautioned their citizens, on numerous occasions, not to travel specifically in this section of the Kazbegi-Upper Lars Highway in winter.
