YEREVAN. – Armenian Parliament Speaker Samvel Nikoyan sent a message to the French Senate President Jean-Pierre Bel on Tuesday on the occasion of passing the bill criminalizing denial of genocides.

“Dear Mr. President,

Passing the bill criminalizing denial of genocides on Monday by the French Senate proves once again France’s devotion to universal human values. Being the homeland of human rights, it fixed through law that crimes perpetrated against humanity have no statute of limitation and condemning them prevents new crimes against humanity.

Dear Mr. President, let us express our gratitude from the name of the Armenian Parliament to the members of the French Senate, all those who struggle for the crime not to be perpetrated again, who consider inadmissible denial of genocides, who stress the importance of justice and universal human rights and who strive for peace, eliminating separating lines and reconciliation of people in the region,” reads the message.
