YEREVAN. – Next week Armenia’s Finance Ministry will start distributing special coupons, whereby the social package will be put into effect, Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan informed news reporters on Thursday.

These coupons are worth 52,000 drams (approx. US$ 135.74), and they envision a mandatory medical insurance for the amount of 3.8 million drams (approx. $9,919.81). The social package’s total worth is 132,000 drams (approx. $ 344.58)

The package is intended for civil and public servants, state officials, and the employees of state-run educational, cultural, and social protection organizations, that is, for 120-thousand people in total.

But senior state officials and technical service providers will not be eligible for this social package.

And in the case of medical insurance, the insurance companies must cover several medical service charges, including heart surgeries and neurosurgical procedures.

This social package can be used for health insurance, mortgage loan services, recreation in Armenia and in Karabakh, and for a child’s tuition fee.
