Over hundred British and American writers took part in voting for the greatest works of world literature. Voting revealed the best 19th century work of world literature to be Anna Karenina and Lolita for the 20th century. 

Norman Mailer, Stephen King, Ann Patchett, Jonathan Franzen, Joyce Carol Oates were among the 125 voters, NEWSru.com reports.

Among the greatest works of 20th century are Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov), the Great Gatsby (Francis Scott Fitzgerald) and In Search of Lost Time (Marcel Proust)

Among the greatest works of 19th century are Anna Karenina (Leo Tolstoy), Madame Bovary (Gustave Flaubert) and War and Peace (Leo Tolstoy).

Among the greatest writers of all times are Leo Tolstoy, William Shakespeare, James Joyce, Vladimir Nabokov, Feodor Dostoevsky, William Falkner, Charles Dickens, Anton Chekhov, Gustave Flaubert and Jane Austen.
