ISTANBUL. - Vicar of the Patriarch of the Constantinople Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) Archbishop Aram Ateshian delivered a speech at the Constitutional Council of the Turkish Parliament on Monday presenting the offers by the Armenian community regarding the new Constitution.

Ateshian said that he will present the offers both orally and in the written form, Anadolu Agency reports. In addition, Ateshian stated at a conference that the Turkish Constitution has an improper provision. He means the provision, which claims that all the citizens of Turkey are Turks.

“We know that we are citizens of Turkey, but we are Armenians. You cannot say that all people with the Turkish citizenship are Turks. This needs an amendment,” he said.
