YEREVAN. – Armenian capital Yerevan’s Electoral District No. 10, in the downtown area, pledges to be the most noteworthy in the forthcoming parliamentary elections, Hraparak daily writes.

“The contenders here are the Nushikyan Association’s president Garegin Nushikyan, who is supported by the [ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia] RPA; [and] Sil Concern’s president Khachatur Sukiasyan, who is supported by the [opposition bloc Armenian National Congress] ANC. [And] We learned yesterday [Thursday] that Northern University Rector Boris Makichyan likewise will run here, and the Rector will be supported by his students and their parents. In an interview with us, Mr. Makichyan noted that his decision to enter the parliament is conditioned by the need to voice the education problems from the NA’s [National Assembly] high platform. Incidentally, Makichyan’s son is the Licensing Committee Chairman,” Hraparak writes.
