YEREVAN. – Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian on Wednesday received Archbishop Marek Solchinsky, the Internuncio of the Holy See of the Vatican to Armenia, who presented the copy of his credentials to Nalbandian.

Congratulating the newly appointed envoy, Armenia’s FM said: “The high-level relations between Armenia and the Vatican, our two churches, are anchored in the Christian system of values, bilateral historical ties, [and] rich cultural and a spiritual heritage, and I am convinced that you—just like your predecessors—will have an important contribution to further strengthening the bilateral cooperation,” MFA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his turn, Archbishop Solchinsky noted there is a good background for developing cooperation between the Holy See of the Vatican and Armenia, and that he will do his utmost to expand and consolidate the collaboration.

Armenia’s FM and the Vatican’s envoy underscored Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to the Vatican, this past December, and his meeting with Pope Benedict XVI.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on several regional and international matters.
