Turkish court bans Kurdish newspaper for one month

Turkish court bans Kurdish newspaper for one monthMarch 26, 2012 | 13:37

ISTANBUL. – An Istanbul court ruled that the publishing of the Özgür Gündem daily be prohibited for one month.

And in its respective verdict, the court stated that the newspaper was carrying out the propaganda of the terrorist structure—that is, the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party)—by way of news items, commentaries, and photographs, Radikal daily of Turkey informs.

The court’s ruling against the Kurdish daily received a huge negative response by active Kurdish circles and progressive Turkish journalists alike.
