YEREVAN. – The price for filling natural gas into vehicles substantially increased as of Wednesday in Armenia, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.
“It is predicted that the price of [filling] gas will further increase.
“The problem is that, unlike the residents, the other small subscribers [of natural gas in Armenia], the [country’s] gas pumping stations buy the gas on the basis of the [US] dollar.
“Around the 10-percent devaluation of the [Armenian] dram [, however,] has resulted in an increase in the cost price of filling [natural] gas.
“Incidentally, our thermal power plants likewise purchase the gas with dollars, [but] sell their product in drams. They, too, will suffer losses under the devaluation of the dram.
“[And] soon the question might arise to [also] raise the electricity price in the corresponding amount,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
