YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily has learned that the authorities of the Republic of Armenia (RA) are considering two options for resolving the matter regarding the price of electricity supplied to consumers, reported the daily.

“Initially it was decided that they will raise the price of electricity by 6-7 drams [approx. US$ 0.01, per cubic meter]. The other option, which has become a subject of discussion in recent days, is to leave the current electricity price the same.

“In the cases of the two options, however, the RA authorities must at the same time ensure additional income for the Electric Networks of Armenia [(ENA) company, which sells this electricity to the country’s consumers].

“To solve this problem, they have decided to hold back the rise in the prices of large companies producing electricity [in the country]. (…) That is, the electricity producers will sell cheap electricity to the ENA,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
