YEREVAN. – According to official data released by the Russian Inter RAO UES Company, the profits of this company’s Armenia segment—that is, the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) Company—have increased by 65.3 percent in the first quarter of this year, reported Chorrord Ishkhanutyun daily.

“In fact, while ENA [Executive] Director [Yevgeny] Bibin is ‘weeping’ and complaining in Armenia that he is working at a loss, its superior in Moscow publicizes the official figures: This company’s revenues in Armenia amounted to close to 102 million [US] dollars (1.1 million, per day), in the first quarter.

“This growth is officially explained due to the fact that, in the noted period, there was a sharp appreciation of the Armenian dram against the Russian ruble.

“In the meantime, the ENA leadership in Armenia wants to raise the price of electricity [in the country] just because the ruble has devalued,” wrote Chorrord Ishkhanutyun.
