YEREVAN. – Even though at first glance it seems that the Russian side is not ready to concede in the matter of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) Company, the contrary shall be assumed from the words of Transportation Minister Maksim Sokolov of Russia, reported Zhamanak daily.

‘“There is a clear plan to take this enterprise out of the crisis, (...) with the necessary means,’ said Maksim Sokolov.

“The most important formulation in Sokolov’s words is ‘necessary means’ because so far the Armenian side (...) were repeating only one thing: where to find that 23 billion [US dollars] needed to pay the debt of the companies generating electrical energy.

“[But] the uprising of the Armenian society and the [ongoing] protest demonstrations convinced the Russians that it is not worth entering into a conflict with the Armenian society for the 23 billion dollars, and now Sokolov says the Russian state will give those [monetary] means, since Inter RAO UES [which manages the ENA] is a Russian state-owned company,” wrote Zhamanak.
