YEREVAN. – The trial of Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, who is charged with the murder of seven members of the Avetisyan family on January 12 in Gyumri, Republic of Armenia (RA), will commence on August 12 in Gyumri, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“This trial is to be held in the 5th garrison [military] court of the South Caucasus military okrug [i.e. district] of Russia, and the actual trial is likely to be held in the territory of the 102nd Russian Military Base [in Gyumri].

“However, not the trial of the murder case, but that of Permyakov’s [military] desertion will be held there; the murder case trial is likely to be held in an RA court, in the fall.

“But the [court] examination of the desertion case is extremely important in terms of a complete solution of the murder, and the post-murder actions by Armenia’s law enforcement and the Russian border guards,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
