YEREVAN. – The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia has not yet set the price for the purchase of the electricity produced by solar power plants, reported Zhamanak daily.

“We asked the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Hayk Harutyunyan, whether the PSRC has set this price.

“The deputy minister responded that such a price is not set because if a low price is set, it will not be appealing for investors.

“Harutyunyan says a tender for building a solar power plant [in Armenia] will be announced next year, and the company that will present a more acceptable [respective] price will be given the chance to build such a plant.

“[But] the organization of such a tender speaks to the fact that a monopoly will be established in Armenia also in the domain of renewable energy,” wrote Zhamanak.
