YEREVAN. – Since Tigran Sargsyan has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, which is the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union, the office of Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia (RA) to the United States (US) will be vacant as of February 1, 2016, reported Hraparak daily.

“The decision to send the RA former PM to Moscow was made just the other day, but heated passions are already ‘boiling’ for the seat of the Ambassador to US, [and] which is very enticing at all times.

“Although news spread yesterday [i.e. Tuesday] that [serving Minister of Education and Science] Armen Ashotyan will be appointed there, our MFA [the Ministry of Foreign Affairs] sources say heated ‘battles’ are underway between the deputy FMs.

“Especially Ashot Hovakimian and Garen Nazarian seek this office,” Hraparak wrote.
