YEREVAN. – When making the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) list for the recent parliamentary elections, they did everything to include pro-American figures in it so that the PAP would not be considered a Russian force, Hraparak daily writes, referring to reliable sources.

“But neither the non-Armenian pro-Westerners nor the US circles ‘approved’ of this idea. According to our information, [PAP leader] Gagik Tsarukyan’s ‘circles’ tried to organize a meeting with US Secretary [of State] Hilary Clinton, first, for campaign [purposes], and then for psychological pressure upon the country’s leaders. But the American side did not respond, a meeting was not held.

Notwithstanding this, Gagik Tsarukyan—together with the public sector, human rights activists, and politicians—went to the US Embassy [in Armenia] to meet with Madam Secretary of State, but a tête-à-tête meeting was not held,” Hraparak writes.
