YEREVAN. – The Humanitarian Demining and Expertise Center and the Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD) Armenia Office presented to news reporters the results of the non-technical research on the affect of landmines, Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun (CI) daily reports.

“CI attempted to find out from the [FSD] Armenia Office representative, [Johannes] Odendaal, as to why [Armenia’s] Shirak Region is not included in the list of the other regions that were studied in Armenia, considering that two children had died from a mine explosion nearby Vahramaberd village [in this region].

‘If the international organization enters a country that has a problem in connection with non-exploded units, it usually cannot take any responsibility upon itself. We have not had a proposal from the [Armenian] authorities to work in the given area,’” Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun quotes Odendaal as saying.
