YEREVAN. – The Hraparak daily’s sources inform that in the case Arthur Baghdasaryan quits his post as Armenian National Security Council (NSC) Secretary, two candidacies have been “observed:” acting Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan, and National Assembly (NA) deputy Karen Karapetyan, the daily reported.

“Although there are rumors that Karen Karapetyan has refused to assume any position at this phase, according to our sources, he will become the NSC secretary. And [ruling Republican Party (RPA) Vice Chairman, RPA NA Faction Head] Galust, son of Grigor [Sahakyan] will sit on the NA speaker’s chair.

“Incidentally, many [people] find that this government and NA are provisional. Heated political processes will start in Armenia in September, which will result in early parliamentary elections; the most recent rearrangements are aimed at this,” Hraparak wrote.
