YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan, who also heads the NA delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), reflected on what occurred during last week’s PACE fall session in Strasbourg, France, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“She attempted to explain why the Armenian delegation could not prevent the [PACE] decision to prepare a report entitled ‘Rise in Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan.’

“She stated that the decision on [preparing] this report is a testimony that we have a substantial retreat, on the CoE’s [i.e., the Council of Europe] part, in terms of European values and standards.

“The NA deputy speaker [also] said that the Armenian party [at the PACE] tried to do everything to prevent the acceptance of this decision, but the Azerbaijani party reached its goal by way of its caviar diplomacy,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
