President of the Republic of Malawi Bingu wa Mutharika passed away on the night of April 6 after a heart attack, the authorities inform.
The Vice-President of Malawi Joyce Band, according to the constitution of the country, will head the state after the death of President Mutharika, Obsrevatel reported.
Bingu wa Mutharika was elected president for a second term in May 2009.
