Pakistan’s armed forces have destroyed several checkpoints and vehicles belonging to the Afghan military in the border area of Chaman. This was reported by the newspaper Dawn, citing sources within the country’s security services.

According to them, the strikes were a response to what was described as “unprovoked aggression” by Afghan forces and militants operating in the border region. Pakistani sources also said that the military operation, named “Ghazab lil-Haq” (“Righteous Wrath”), is targeting groups based in Afghanistan and will continue until its stated objectives are achieved.

It is reported that fighting along the border resumed on February 26. Afghan authorities said they were acting in response to Pakistani airstrikes on their territory.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had previously stated that a state of open armed confrontation had effectively developed between the two sides.
