Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi held a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, during which they discussed the latest developments in the region.

Both sides stressed the need to intensify international efforts to restore the security and freedom of maritime navigation, as well as to ensure the uninterrupted flow of global trade in accordance with international law.

They also emphasized the importance of all parties showing the necessary flexibility to achieve practical solutions to disputes and take shared interests into account.

Oman has traditionally acted as a mediator between the United States and Iran and has repeatedly called for de-escalation in the region.
