It is a pleasure to be here on the occasion of the opening of the Belgian Embassy in Armenia, which opens new prospects for the development of relations between Belgium and Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the opening ceremony of the Belgian Embassy in Yerevan on Monday.

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever was also on hand in the ceremony.

Armenia and Belgium are connected by ancient historical ties, and their relations are based on these traditions. Today, they are developing in the context of strengthening and developing democracy, the rule of law. It is very important that democracy brings prosperity and success to people, citizens, and the country. And Armenia is grateful to Belgium for supporting it in achieving all the goals mentioned, Pashinyan added.

Armenia also highly appreciates Belgium’s support in its cooperation with the European Union (EU). And Armenia knows that it has friends in the EU on whom it can rely. And this has been proven on numerous occasions. Armenia perceives this as a very bold support for its statehood, sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, democracy, and the aspiration to become a more prosperous, more successful, more democratic and more future-oriented country, the Armenian PM noted.

Also, he expressed confidence that today's event, the Belgian PM’s visit to Armenia and his personal presence here will become another powerful impetus for the further development and deepening of their bilateral relations, Pashinyan concluded.
