Davit Ghazinyan, an MP candidate from the opposition Strong Armenia Alliance, has been detained for two months.
The Anti-Corruption Court granted the respective petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
Earlier, the Central Electoral Commission had granted the petition filed by the Prosecutor General's Office to strip Ghazinyan of his immunity; he was arrested Wednesday.
A statement released by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia had noted that as a result of the measures taken by the employees of the Anti-Corruption Committee, factual data were obtained that persons appointed as responsible persons in the Arabkir administrative district office of the Strong Armenia party in Yerevan, as well as Davit Ghazinyan, a registered candidate for MP of the same party, with prior agreement with the party's supporters and a group of people collaborating with them, promised voters, as well as gave them electoral bribes.
A criminal proceeding has been initiated in the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia regarding the incident, a number of persons were arrested, and searches as well as several other procedural actions were carried out.
