The Armenian court on Thursday decided to extend Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan's house arrest for three months.

The prosecution justified the need to extend the house arrest, while the defense demanded an end to the illegalities and to release Galstanyan.

"It is an undeniable fact that we are not terrorists," Archbishop Galstanyan stated.

Also, he expressed the view that the incumbent Armenian authorities themselves are frightened by their own behavior, and he said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements about widespread bribery were an attempt to intimidate people.

“We are anti-terrorists,” Galstanyan said, concluding his remarks with a demand for the release of Archbishop Mikael Ajapahian, Primate of the Diocese of Shirak of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

At the same time, the court allowed Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan to travel to Etchmiadzin Cathedral every Sunday to attend the Divine Liturgy.

Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, former Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, was under arrest since June 2025. But on June 4 of this year, appellate court of Armenia commuted Galstanyan’s precautionary measure of detention to house arrest.

According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, participants in the Archbishop Galstanyan-led “Holy Struggle” movement had planned to carry out terrorist and power-seizing actions in Armenia.
